Standard

What does it say about the state of sport that a display of sportsmanship from a sportsman provokes banner headlines around the world? Wasn’t there once a time when it would have been amazing if a sportsman, professional or amateur, had not taken issue with an umpire’s decision that he considered wrong, irrespective of whether that decision  favoured his opponent or himself?  Or am I remembering a golden age that only ever existed in fairy tales?
